So you're in the Austin area and you want to experience a bit of old Texas charm? Put on your dancing shoes and head to at lease one of these fine establishments to experience an evening of dancing and it'll feel like 50 years ago!

On the top of this list is

The Broken Spoke: Hidden in between modern condo units on South Lamar is a gem of a dance hall. Austin's finest I think. You'll find real cowboys who know how to 2-step and swing. It's actually a 50 year old dance hall that attracts all types of Austinites. The live music is amazing and the people watching fabulous!

Guerne Hall: It's a bit of drive from Austin, but well worth it. Dubbed the oldest dance hall in Texas, this venue...

Traveling over the holidays? Checking bags full of Christmas gifts or pets? Well now you can rest assured that your precious cargo will be given a voice during their time away from you! Bag Sentry has created a way for you to monitor your luggage all the way through your trip by producing a powerful and rugged sensor that will notify you via phone app if your bag is thrown around too much or if light is detected, meaning someone opened your bag.

If your bag was opened and you're missing items or wondering how your pet's travel went, you now have the ability to share this information with the airlines as proof that your bag was tampered with. The sensor itself should serve as a deterrent to b...

Zilker Park's Trail of Lights: This amazing light exhibit began in 1965 as a Yule Fest and has grown since. There were 400,000 people that came to this event in 2014 and more expected this year so beware of traffic! Shuttles to this illuminating event are available at the Burger Center and the Republic Square. For more information on the Trail of Lights event visit www.austintrailofligts.org. The trail opens Dec 4.

Little Bethlehem-Burnet: Driving out to Burnet and waiting in line for a few hours may not sound appealing, b...

Well while Starbucks is passionate about providing the best coffee with impeccable service, we at Masters Touch Custom Homes are equally passionate about creating homes that go above and beyond our clients' expectations. Starbucks has had amazing success by simply providing a cheerful, excellent way to wake people up! We do the same...wake up in one of our master suites and you'll feel a slice of heaven has fallen down upon you.

The reason I mention this similarity is because this season's red cup has stirred up some social media controversy. Before our homes are finished, they are plain green and look like they could go with the plain red cup. They are a blank canvas for our client...

Giving Thanks...so many times we gather and forget to give thanks for what we love most in life. This Thanksgiving, have your guests fill out a card upon entering your home. Have them share at least one thing they are thankful for and then put it in a basket. Before the meal, pass the basket and have people pick out their cards and read what they are thankful for out loud to the group.

An entryway that is fall focused with a wreath showing thankful hearts will set the tone of your gathering before your guests even step foot into your home.

Have seating cards available with each guest's name on the card and write something about that person that you are thankful for. The person will feel...

New homes are going up all around Austin and more people are choosing to utilize green products. Energy efficiency is the main goal. At Masters Touch Custom Homes we design our homes to have the best solar orientation possible. This provides adequate natural light in a home yet keeps the home from excessive direct sunlight that is extremely intense in Texas.

Utilizing proper insulation and 2x6 over 2x4 boards is another important decision element when creating proper insulation. The extra 2 inches will allow for a better thermal barrier from heat and the loss of cool air inside the home. We also use ZipSystem rather than Tyvek to ensure that up to 25% less air and energy are lost from the hom...
