Lakeway’s 35th Annual Fourth of July celebrations are under way. They have themed the event “Proud to be an American”. On Monday July 4th the day long celebration begins at 8 am at the Live Oak Golf Clubhouse with the parade.
The parade will head down Lakeway Drive and end at Lakeway church on Lakeway Blvd. After the parade the festivities head over to the Lakeway Activity Center at 10:30 am for the annual July 4th Pageant. A continental breakfast will be served at the Activity Center prior to the pageant, and grand marshal Col. Charles Edwards will greet the public prior to delivering his keynote address.
The Lakeway Swim Center will have a static helicopter display in the afternoon (noon-6pm) with an entry fee of $3 dollars per person. To wrap up this years celebration the Gary Lee Cox Band will be performing from 7:30-9:30pm at City park which opens at 6 p.m. The annual fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m.
As always, the city is calling for floats of all kinds to take part in the parade.
“All creative entries, from floats, bands and golf carts, to walkers and vehicles are welcome to participate in our traditional, unique Lakeway Parade,” said Parade Chairwoman Paula Crawley.
Parade entry forms are available at the Lakeway Activity Center and at the front desk of Lakeway City Hall. Entry forms must be turned in by June 15.
