Is there anything more important in life than finding the best coffee shop around? I don’t know about you but Starbucks is so overrated. I like something different and yummy with healthy coffees. The atomosphere of the coffee shop is equally important. It can’t be stale or over-commercialized for my liking. In case you’re on the hunt, we’ve listed our favorites below:
1. Jo’s Coffee on South Congress. Yes, you have to go there to take your photo on the side of the building where it says…I love you so much! It’s a must do if you’re an Austinite. Best advertising campaign ever for this coffee shop. Why is it so awesome? As you sit and sip, you can sit outside in the gorgeous Austin air and people watch. There’s a bar overlooking the sidewalk so as you gaze up from your laptop you’re surrounded by a zoo of humans.

2.The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (5030 W 290 building 11 is my favorite location). The staff here will brighten your day and it’s such a fun indoor and outdoor atmosphere. There’s even a fire pit for chilly nights! I never wait in this drive-thru and am continually greeted with the biggest smile as I start my day. My personal favorites are the almond milk latte and Thai Tea. It’s a locally-owned chain that you don’t want to miss.

3. Dominican Joe’s Coffee House 515 S Congress This locally owned coffee house is changing lives in the Dominican Republic every day. I’ve actually had the opportunity to go over and meet some of the beautiful people that have been blessed by this place. They get their delicious coffee-beans from the Dominican Republic and sell them on their website and the proceeds benefit their not for profit-Makarios. Meander into the coffee shop, and you’ll see photographs of the adorable, thankful children they help educate and feed. They have organic coffees…yeah!
4. Mozart’s Coffee 3825 Lake Austin Blvd This place gets my vote for the best view. You can sit on a beautiful patio overlooking Lake Austin. What a great way to start the day or get caught up on work. There is a yummy selection of baked goods here as well but the gluten-free options are limited.
You’ll want to go on a nice day so you can sit on the patio.

5. Halcyon 218 W 4th Halcyon means calm and happy…a great way to describe myself as I drink coffee here. There is a lot of energy in this tiny shop but it can get crowded fast so you may have to be patient for a patio table. Come at night for a coffee mixed with liquor and sit outside on the
patio…the best time to people watch here.
